Vices Series

My series is shot on 35mm film and portrays common and often overlooked vices that most people can relate to. It follows what could be considered “a day in the life” of anyone, rather than a specific person, to show how we interact with the world in the same ways, despite living different lives. It was shot during a covid-19 lockdown when we could not leave our homes, and I found that myself and those close to me were interacting with each other less and relying more heavily on our bad habits.

The series goes from waking up to falling asleep, covering the course of a day. Each photo has a linking element to the photo prior to show how one vice often leads to others. The linking element changes in each photo but it’s everything from a phone, to wine glasses, and lipstick on a cigarette.

The vices may seem harmless because, for the most part, they are. Every photo is quite "mundane" to show that each vice alone is not damaging but put together they form bad habits that negatively affect our daily lives.
